OUR PASTOR

Pastor Chris is a recent transplant to Timnath, Colorado from Chicago, Illinois.  He brings with him a vast reservoir of experience in the fields of Christian Ministry and Biblical counseling.  Chris has been preaching, teaching and mentoring since he became a Christian in 2005.  Notable positions held were at Glenview Covenant Church as English Ministry Pastor and Youth Minister at Medinah Baptist Church, both in Illinois.

Chris has been engaged in Biblical Counseling since 2014 and has developed proven strategies to help people overcome their circumstances and attain freedom and victory in their personal lives.

As a certified Financial Minister, he has guided and advised many people in a Biblical manner as to the stewardship of their finances.

Before becoming a Christian, Pastor Chris started his own company as a Realtor/Broker and continues to bring his expertise in the Mortgage and Real Estate world to the community, by sharing wisdom and knowledge.

Pastor Chris has earned a Master of Arts Degree from Moody Theological Seminary, IL and a Bachelor of Business Degree at St Vincent DePaul University in IL.

Chris and Ciara have been married since 2007 and have 4 lovely children.  They are abundantly blessed with the gift of hospitality and most nights host a meal for a family in the neighborhood.   When they aren’t working, they enjoy swimming, riding bikes and watching football.

A word from Pastor Chris:

“Through servant leadership, I strive to proclaim the Good News of God’s love, with the hope that others will come to know Him and know Him deeply. I believe the purpose of the Lord Jesus’ ministry through me can best be summarized in the following way: To minister the Word of God in such a way that it will lead to a lifestyle of worship. By worship, I mean singing praises to the Lord daily from our heart; reading and applying the Word of God to our everyday life and using our God-given abilities in the church for the benefit of others and for the glory of God. “

Tim Green

I was raised in Hawaii by parents who loved the Lord Jesus, while my wife to be, Lorna, was raised similarly in Seattle. Both of us experienced strong Christian communities in small Bible-based churches. Although God’s grace and forgiveness were always clear, my greatest spiritual growth happened in college, where I became more grounded in the Word, grew through discipleship, and let the Lord take greater control of daily decisions.

Lorna and I married after college and eventually were blessed with two daughters, now mature young adults. A local church has been central to our lives in every stage and location. This led to wonderful relationships with people of diverse ages and backgrounds. My career as a research scientist has opened many doors internationally and raised appreciation for the global Body of Christ.

It is a joy to participate in the oversight of this precious new church in northern Colorado!

Casey Greubel

I grew up in the E-Free church in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I surrendered my life to Christ at a very young age and maintained that profession when I was baptized as a teenager. In that same church I met my beautiful wife Aimee. We were both part of the music team and were in the same small group together. After graduating college at the University of Wyoming,  Aimee and I were called to serve at a church plant in Severance, Colorado. After a season of serving and  growing there we felt called to join the church plant at Christ the Rock in Timnath.

It has been an absolute joy to be a part of this church body and to see God’s hand at work in Timnath, Colorado.

Dave Purvis

I grew up in various places in the Midwest and began following Jesus at an early age.  My parents ministered to college students with the Navigators, and later, while attending the University of Wisconsin, I was part of a Nav group myself.  This time was instrumental in deepening my faith and showing me what it means to be a disciple.

After graduation I fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Colorado, where I later met my wife, Cyndi, when we were part of the same church.  After moving to Timnath, we felt God calling us to find a church in our community, and we've been very blessed by finding Christ the Rock.

I'm excited to be part of this church family and to continue to see God at work.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

The Evangelical Free Church of America is an association of autonomous churches united around these theological convictions.

GOD

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.

THE BIBLE

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

THE HUMAN CONDITION

We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus—Israel's promised Messiah—was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

THE WORK OF CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe that God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

CHRIST'S RETURN

We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission.

RESPONSE & ETERNAL DESTINY

We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace. Amen.
